Road bridge -Paddock Wood

The road bridge spans the main South Eastern railway line from London and was designed to support both HA and HB loading.

The tarmac road surface was laid on an in-situ, reinforced concrete slab supported by a series of eleven pre-cast concrete beams.

The pre-cast beams were transported to site by rail, and erected, over night, by mobile cranes.

The centre span between abutments is 33.0 metres and the side spans 11.0 metres.

The bridge is supported by a series of rubber bearings that were designed to accommodate thermal movement.
